Henrik Ibsen’s 1876 play Peer Gynt chronicles the journey of its titular character from the Norwegian mountains to the North African desert with folkloric fantasy and unsentimental realism. Reinterpreted by director Jonghee Woo, this new adaptation, Peer/Gynt, moves its historic background to 20th and 21st century, and rearranges the natural characteristic of time by interweaving sequential narration and flashback. The production experiments with how TIME keeps circling within multiple playgrounds and cemeteries in the river of life by juxtaposing young Peer and old Gynt’s lifes, experiences, and memories through a nearly 50-year span..
